Fashion TV...suspended?! noooo!!!

Fashion TV suspended... what is the world going to do with out interviews with top Designers and Runway shows!!???

Fashion Television is suspended after 27 years bringing us fashion from the world's top runways. The show's host, Jeanne Beker, is pictured here interviewing Cindy Crawford in 1997. (Image courtesy of Bell Media)
This morning we woke to the news that after 27 years, Fashion Television- the beloved television show that pioneered video coverage of fashion runways around the world- is suspended.

The news are somewhat of a surprise: even Host Jeanne Beker wasn’t expecting it and Tweeted, “This dream is over”. After all, Jeanne Beker’s presence at every big fashion presentation in town here and abroad is now just a fact of life, and finding the program airing on television- no matter what the hour- seems integral to our programming.
The show’s suspension (which we expect will lead to a cancellation) is likely due to poor viewer ratings and competition in the marketplace from fashion houses and magazines reporting their shows with instant live streaming. We’re also hearing that bloggers (like us) are part of the demise- but we’d like to argue that.
Host Jeanne Beker has been a role model to many young women here in Canada and elsewhere who dreamed of a fashion career and hungered for the coverage of what designers were creating in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, New York. FT was the place to get served what we craved- art that moves, identity that can be changed with an easy turn in the change room, and the human body reshaped and imagined over and over again. Fashion’s ability to empower, communicate and celebrate were part of what made the show so  poignant- to experience a designer’s vision and expression of a moment in time. Fashion Television captured designers’ take on culture in the now- no matter how far and outlandish.

Interviewing John Galliano

Jeanne’s mic helped us sneak into the most exquisite fashion houses: the extravagant and magical haute couture that but a few could ever witness on the runway, let alone the Parisian finishing salon, and the industry’s rebels, emerging talent and most brilliant innovators of our times- all framed within the backstage clips of the world’s buyers, editors and social decision-makers. Fashion Television was beyond fantasy and above all, it supported in many of us a passion for fashion that was strong and worthwhile no matter how absurd the idea of a fashion career seemed.

Interviewing Linda Evangelista in 1999
Over the years, Jeanne won awards, the show became syndicated in 130 countries and a network to host it became part of the evolution of the public’s interest in fashion news. Jeanne became a guest columnist in major publications, published books, launched her own fashion labels and worked with individual labels to frame their wares for retail success. Her charm, intelligence, determination and industry knowledge distinguish her as one helluva gal.

Here’s to you, Jeanne- thank you and thank you and thank you!

(And FYI, I will be watching the re-runs and looking forward to your next move- after all, Bell Media is saying that there are new projects on the way involving Jeanne- let’s hope they’re even as half as spectacular asFashion Television.) Crossing fingers!!

Everything is better Hot Pink

I'm feeling the Hot Pink wave today!!!...

Here are my current loves from this color....because EVERYTHING IS BETTER IN HOT PINK!!

I love this dress for the summer.. its super cute and super hot!!
The low cut back shows off your back no nicely...that's if you want to display that back you worked out SO hard all winter long to tone up! It hits at the mid thigh so its not like its skimpy or Jersey Shore status!I wish there was a front view of it, but I have a hunch it could be squared neckline or a slight V. It could be chiffon or Jersey knit.Either way it draps well on her body.Pair this with a pair of sandals or some nude pumps.

Everyone needs a pair of loubis in there closet, and what better then a pair of hot pink ones!! Personally I think this is Fuchsia, but for my blog topics sake, lets say hot pink!   There 6" high stacked platform heel... There from a past collection, but if you find them, they NEED to be in your shoe collection! There is another current pair I'm obsessing about.. I will show you...

Hot pink lips are a must. I've wore this a few times in public! The color similar to this is by MAC called Impassioned            (Amplified)$14.50. Super fun for this season! To buy http://www.maccosmetics.com
Now these... hold smokes..these are to DIE for. This new pump from Louboutin is called "Asteroid 160MM "!! The color combo with the zebra and the gold spikes are FANTASTIC. A Must for this Summer!!I got to see and hold them at Neiman Marcus...omg...Drool. They are quite a statement and a lil bit Dangerous... noting wrong with a lil dangerous ! These bad boys run about $1,595 and are pretty much sold out online. But I believe Neimans still has some.
However if you want something a little bit more Funkier, my FAVORITE Designer, and personally, I know she was the first one to put spikes on heels is RUTHIE DAVIS. These Spiky pumps with Swarovski crystals on the heel are $1,798 and sold on her site http://ruthiedavis.gostorego.com/shoes/jewel.html

But if you want something affordable and heck, hand made, check out these hot pink spiky shoes. There on ETSY, by VILEBROCHOLLFUR  http://etsy.me/pZ5a43

Ok enough about shoes...
***********************

This color breakup is really nicely done here(in both images)!!! Just a splash of pink in the daywear outfit ( below)and at work outfit (above). You can't go wrong with a pink sweater or a pink pencil skirt.

A little rule of thumb that I abide by is, whatever color is "IN", have one key piece, don't go over kill! People will stop you on the street and call you a true Fashionista!

Well have a happy Day!!
Do something Dangerous, I dare you!!
( just don't blame me when the police arrest you! )

Who is Bettie B Dangerous!?

Hello Hello!!!

First and foremost, thank you for checking out my new venture...BLOGGING! I was told by family and friends that I should blog about my obsession with Fashion, my swimwear line, my love for holistic health, my Pit bull Mix Lady Luck, my travels, Food, Interior Design, Lady GAGA, Shoes, Hair, Makeup and of course Bettie Page!!... Everything Dangerous!! hehehe
**************************************************************

I'm sure most of you want to know FIRST, WHY did I start Bettie "B" Dangerous Swimwear!?
Well in 2005 I was at El Camino College getting my AS in Merchandising and finished in 2007. I took a few extra classes that I didn't need for my Merchandising degree, just to break up the monotony. One was the Fashion Show production and the other  Fitting & Alterations. Since I fell in love with all things retro, especially 40s & 50s dresses, I started to alter those, so they would fit me. I decided I would maybe remake those styles with a better fit and submit them to the Fashion Show; which was held at the end of the semester. Unfortunately I have no pictures of them, but one got featured in Apparel News!
It wasn't til the summer after the show, I started noticing the lack of hot & stylish swimsuits... Oh yeah,  I always lived by the ocean and was found at the beach either in the water surfing, playing around or skateboarding on the strand. I would go through at least three swimsuits a summer; Roxy swimwear got a lot of my babysitting money and my awesome Moms money too!  Back to my point on the " lack of hot & stylish swimsuits"... it was more like lack of materiel on the persons body, ha ha.  It looked liked women were stealing there 10 year olds sisters swim bottoms and used band aids for a top!!! I started venturing off to the beach at peak times and observed what people were wearing. I was appalled, because a lot of these women had great bodies but didn't wear the right suit to show what there mama gave them!!! I knew noting about making swimwear, really, but I knew what I liked wearing and what made me feel comfortable and stylish. I started doing my research on swimwear shapes and designs, and then realized, holy smokes, it was right in front of me, the swimwear of the 40s & 50s REALLY flattered a woman's body! I went to the LA County Museum and was granted access to their magazine archives, from the very first magazine that had a woman in a swimsuit and proceeding. I WAS IN  HEAVEN!!!
My brain was buzzing with ideas, color schemes, etc etc.  So THAT'S when I said, I NEED TO MAKE SWIMWEAR! I asked guys, girls and family on what they thought was sweet, sexy and hey, a little dangerous!  I played around with the ideas through the Summer and in the Fall semester. In my final semester at El Camino College, I presented my first swimwear collection. It was one style, a one piece with a detachable neck strap and boning in the bust. Oh yeah, I decided it needed to be in 6 colors! I laugh now, but at the time, I thought it was a brilliant idea. I made it in Red, Black, Navy, Emerald Green, Baby blue and Titanium. Everyone loved it and embraced my idea ! So after I graduated, I decided that I would start making these suits and selling them. But I needed a NAME!!! I couldn't think of anything clever... It wasn't till I went to my hair dresser, Jaclyn Jean and said Jaclyn, help me out here... what should I name it. She said well you love Bettie Page and you like things dangerous, right... I threw out "Dangerous Bettie" ? She said, that would work! So I googled it and found out a Country singer was called Dangerous Bettie in Texas. That wasn't going to work, was it!? ha. Back to the drawing board...?
Then the unfortunate happened. My grandma Lisa passed away. This was the grandma who took me to Florence Fabrics in Torrance, every Spring break since I was 7 years old. She taught me to sew and attempted to teach me crocheting. She showed me the importance of the hand of fabric (which I'm still anal about the hand of fabric, when it comes to my swimwear and clothes)! How to do different stitches. She taught me all that I know...
ANYWAYS... I decided I needed to pay homage to her, but how?!? Then it happened ! ! !
Grandmas real name was " Batishwa" ( where she got Lisa, I don't know). So I said well I will take the first initial of her name "B" and use it some how.
Low and behold,  Bettie "B" Dangerous Swimwear. Coincidentally my first initial of my last name was the letter B too. So it worked out !
So since 2007 til present, I have been making Sweet..Sexy..Dangerous Swimwear.
My inspirations are drawn daily by the silver screen actresses from the 40s & 50s, Bettie Page, Pin- ups and all tied together with a modern twist. I have branched out to two piece suits, more one pieces,
high waisted bottoms and different prints. My taste is constantly evolving. But my heart will always be in 40s & 50s era.

***I hope you enjoyed my story and continue to follow me on my blog and other social networks that I'm buzzing on. I will let you in my life of being a swimwear designer and all things that inspire me and what has made me who I am !

Love you all!
